Judy Phelps
Aerobatic Pilot, Instructor and Designated Pilot Examiner

Judy Phelps is a fascinating flyer—and we get to hear her amazing story on October 17!

When Judy married Clay Phelps of CP Aviation in 1994, she also started flying—but what might have begun as commitment to a relationship blossomed into much more! Five years later, Judy earned her pilot certificate. She took Emergency Maneuver Training in in 2001, and in 2003 Judy became a flight instructor herself! She loves to teach others to love flying as much as she does.

In 2011, Judy was named the National Certified Flight Instructor of the Year by the FAA—a great honor! She is a seven-time Master CFI of Aerobatics, which is an accreditation awarded to very few flight instructors. She is also the FIRST female MCFI-Aerobatics in the United States!

In2021, Judy became an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner another huge accomplishment. As Vice President of CP Aviation at Santa Paula Airport she directs the flight school’s operations. CP Aviation just celebrated their 35th anniversary as a flight school

With over 11,500 flight hours, Judy has been an Aerobatics instructor for 19 years, specializing in Emergency Maneuver Training through CP Aviation’s World renowned EMT Program

Those are just a FEW of the highlights about this high-flying woman! Don’t miss the October 17 meeting to hear the stories that connect these accomplishments!
